Games and #Gamification:

The New Nihilism?

A short documentary. Intrinsic motivation for social change is no longer enough. We need extrinsic motivation, i.e. games and gamification. Peoples’ struggles for progress in the past were motivated by an intrinsic desire for progress itself. The result? The sorry state of the world that we find ourselves in today. This is because social movements have been basing their ideas on a misunderstanding of what motivates people, and lack good systems designers. If we want to survive the next century on this planet we must act now: design games (e.g. for The World Bank), consult for corporate marketing and speak at technology conferences. Please pass on this call to action to our brothers and sisters in the developing world i.e. those living outside California.
