Dechen Shak-Dagsay is a Tibetan who has spent most of her life in Switzerland. She is married to Dr. Kalsang Shak, a Tibetan Naturopath and they have two grown up daughters Yuri Lhamo and Tara Lhanzey.
She was very proud of her Tibetan origin and loved to sing the Tibetan songs with her late mother. She was always very impressed by the serenity and calm which she felt whenever her parents and grandparents practiced the Buddhist daily prayers at home. Over the years it was this kind of strong precious feeling of belonging and comfort that she wanted to share with others.
